My Theoretical Orientation

With 40 years’ experience in the field of psychotherapy, I can assist you in those cases where you need help assessing, conceptualizing, and/or intervening with the most effective treatment methods for your clients.

Each client is unique, and different problems require different techniques.

Integrative

Draws from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, interpersonal, and trauma-informed therapies.

Case Consultation

It can be very frustrating when you are helping a client and you feel stuck, not sure what to do next, or think you are missing something. Sometimes the frustration a therapist experiences can spill over to the client and further muddy the therapeutic waters. Consultation is recommended when you have this uncertainty, or if you could use help understanding how to work with your countertransference.

The types of clinical work I would be able to assist you with are:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Eating disorders
  • Couples therapy
  • Pre-marital therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Support groups

Consultation for Practice Building

Since 1992, I have owned a small business – my private practice. I have done the work of launching, building, and maintaining a successful private practice, four times, in four different cities. You can learn quickly what I had to learn piecemeal over the years – what works and what doesn’t work.

Save time and money. Learn how to make those connections that will result in referrals of the type of clients you want to work with. Your coach keeps you accountable with your action plan so that you continue to move forward to get results.

Consultation for Therapist Burnout

Are you investing in your clients but worried about becoming burnt out? Do you know how to keep your stress levels down in order to provide better support to your clients?

Being in this field a long time, I know that stress from our work can take its toll on even the most competent, experienced therapist. Fatigue, muscle tension, lack of energy, vicarious trauma, poor health habits, are just a few issues that therapists might experience over time.

Therapists must practice what they preach! Cutting corners on your own self-care because you are very busy doesn’t bring you or the client more dividends, in fact it is just the opposite.

With careful planning and accountability, you will be providing the self-care you need to maintain the high level of mental/emotional activity your job demands. You will feel better, and your personal free time will be a more rewarding experience.

Consultation can be done in person or by secure video.

A Consult & Process Group for therapists:
Being our own best client

Take advantage of the opportunity to develop professionally in a group experience with others. Participate in and examine group dynamics, parallel process, explore your work with clients, i.e., boundary issues, blinds spots, the therapeutic alliance, etc.

The group format is case consult, and our group process may be examined for its implications for best practice. This is also a safe forum for receiving support as a therapist for this challenging and rewarding work that we do.

This is an ongoing group, open to licensed therapists of all disciplines working in various settings, including those working in the expressive therapies or substance abuse. Space is limited.

This group also serves as supervision hours for LPC trainees.

Join the Group

Any licensed therapist around the country may be eligible to join.

There are two groups:

Wednesday Group: 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Central Time)

Tuesday Group: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month, 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM (Central Time)

The cost is $80.00 per group session.

There is a 4 month (8 sessions) attendance commitment.

Rebecca’s group was a great fit for me at a time when I knew something was missing from my professional development. The group was both challenging and supportive, allowing me to grow in areas that have continued to benefit me in my practice today.

T.A., LCSW

Rebecca’s professional training development group was valuable to me both professionally and personally. I gained so much from all the support, ideas and varied experience present in the room from my fellow clinicians. I want to personally recommend Rebecca as a leader. Her presence and her impressive professional experience combine to create a very unique and meaningful experience.

J.D., LPC

Rebecca is gifted at creating a safe environment for therapists to explore their clinical and personal concerns. I joined the group thinking I would improve as a therapist, but left feeling like a more open, compassionate, and well-rounded human being. I cannot recommend Rebecca’s group highly enough!
